Templar Court

Buckland were approached to help create a feature glulam wheel shaped roof structure for a penthouse flat in London.

The customer had had a new flat added to the existing roof on the 8th floor of a building in central London. The flat is circular, and the customer wanted to create something visually spectacular to complement the impressive London skyline view.

The roof structure was created using 36 UK Larch glulam beams which came together in a central point connected by a bespoke steel wheel at the centre, creating the wheel effect. The glulam structure was then completed with the addition of ply roofing.

With the structure being on the top of an existing building, it was paramount assembly was precise. As Buckland were not involved in the installation, we pre-assembled everything in our yard to ensure everything fitted perfectly before going to site.

The finished structure was coated with a clear varnish and then, to maximise the visual impact, the ply roofing was painted white to create contrast.
